Only men!
It was about 1990. I participated in a French language entrance examination for employment at Metro in Tehran. Since the contract of construction of the Metro of Tehran was awarded to French Engineers, the “Islamic Republic of Iran Railways” needed some employees for administrative affairs.
I’ve studied all my school years in French schools, and I’ve had a B.A. in French Language. I’ve been successful in that examination too. But, after that, they told me "you’ve been successful in the exam but we’ve decided to employ ONLY MEN. When we decided to employ women too, we’ll call you." And they never did.
Years later, I met two of my female friends who didn’t know French at all, and they told me they are Metro’s employees.
