born in America
I am an American who has been living in Europe for three and a half years. Inevitably, whenever I meet a new person they ask where I am from. Many times, as soon as I tell a person that I am American, he or she starts giving me a geography quiz or making jokes about how stupid I must be since I am an American. Or, in extreme cases, I even met people who didn't want to talk to me anymore as soon as the found out that I was born in the United States of America.
